Lot 814 of 293: A French bronze model of the Victory of Samothrace , known as the Nike of Samothrace, late 19th/early 20th century, bears foundry stamp for Siot Decauville Fondeur Paris, 58cm high Note: The Winged Victory of Samothrace, discovered in 1863, is conventionally thought to have been made to celebrate a naval victory in 190 BC. Since 1884 it has been located in the Louvre, Paris. The workshops Siot-Decauville foundry were Villehardouin street, then after 1920, Victor Emmanuel III Avenue in Paris .
